Montana is obviously a big place, so it takes a lot of resources to cover such a vast territory. There are over 280 fire departments across the state, with the vast majority (80%+) being completely volunteer. No matter if they're career or volunteer, one of the most loved assets of fire departments? The fire stations themselves.

Moving to Montana is a big deal. It's a huge state, lots of excellent places to live, myriad outdoor activities, etc. But it's absolutely crucial that folks moving to Montana keep in mind these very easy ways for them to become a 'good Montanan'. Montana has it's own set of unique living requirements.

There's a historic mansion in Helena that is so pretty, and incredibly ornate - and it's currently for sale. The architecture is stunning and the private home has been renovated in recent years.

Snow will continue to fall across most of Montana through at least Friday morning. Higher elevations are getting lots of snow, while the valleys are seeing less but frequent light snowfalls. Thursday night is expected to bring lots more snow, along with some wind.

I'm shocked and embarrassed that I've never been to this really gorgeous piece of Montana. It's so close, incredibly beautiful, inexpensive to visit, and right up my alley. Perhaps 'tourist attraction' isn't the right term for this Jefferson City gem.

Montana's lack of snowfall and our dangerously low snowpack levels are becoming the stuff of fire season nightmares. As the winter weeks go by, our 'percentages of normal' keep ticking lower - and that's not good news for this summer.
