In a world where just about everything is rated and reviewed online, it probably doesn’t surprise anyone that hospitals are being graded too, including those here in Montana.
Newsweek recently teamed up with Statista, a global data intelligence firm, to evaluate 800 hospitals across all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
With more than 6,000 hospitals in America, Newsweek and Statista chose to focus only on in-state hospitals when putting together their rankings.
Challenges Of Choosing A Hospital In Montana
Here in Montana, it’s not always easy to pick and choose where you go for care, since some communities only have one hospital or none at all.
That said, if you already have to drive to see a doctor, it makes sense to go somewhere that has received high marks.
What Goes Into The Best Hospitals For 2026 List
To determine the best in-state hospitals for 2026, they updated their methodology this year. That included expanded hospital quality metrics, broader accreditation coverage, using expert recommendations from previous years, and putting more emphasis on care quality and patient-reported outcome measures.
While it’s not always easy to choose a hospital in an emergency, taking a little time to think about it now could make a big difference when the time comes.
