In what comes as no surprise to anyone, Donald Trump announced he was running for President again in 2024.  It begs the question - How many times do we have to say "no" before someone gets the message?

Donald Trump did not win the popular vote in either 2016 or 2020.  Electoral College aside, the majority of Americans just do not want him to be the leader of the free world.  If you look at the most recent election results, the majority of Trump backed candidates also lost.  It would seem that, again, the majority of Americans have said "enough" when it comes to Donald Trump and the MAGA movement.

Having listened to the news since the election, there have been a wealth of talking heads and pundits on the right who have said it is time for Trump to step aside and let someone like Ron DeSantis become the new leader and face of the GOP.  Rupert Murdoch, Republican "kingmaker" and owner of the NY Post, approved a cover of the publication with an unflattering photo of Trump along with a story covering the recent midterm woes for Republicans. The November 10th edition of the NY Post refers to the former president as "Trumpty Dumpty," and depicts him as an egg sitting on a wall.

FOX NEWS, and the Wall Street Journal Editorial have also published stories saying it was time for the party to move on from Trump. Scores of Right-Wing publications have blamed the failed "Red Wave" on Trump and his behavior following the 2020 election results.

People are also turning on Trump in certain circles within the GOP but are afraid to speak it aloud. I have seen and heard a large number of people who were once all aboard the Trump Train say that if he does not win the nomination, that he will burn down the entire party. Some are even hoping he gets convicted and the problem takes care of itself.

Even Mike Pence, his former VP has come out and said "I Think We’ll Have Better Choices"

I am no political savant but I could see this having disastrous ramifications for 2024 and perhaps the GOP long term.  A Republican "civil war" could fracture the party permanently.  Trump, in what could be a bloody Republican Presidential Primary, has already fired the first shot across the bow at Ron DeSantis calling him ‘Ron De-Sanctimonious’.  Will he concede should he not win the nomination, or will he splinter off and run as a third-party spoiler?  We'll just have to wait and see.

I believe if the GOP wants any chance at finding success in 2024, and moving past Trump and the MAGA movement, they need to let voters know what they will do if elected. It's time to let go of the Culture War and "triggering the libs," and run on actual substance.  Though that is probably just the ‘Bleeding-Heart Liberal’ in me.
