As the government shutdown continues into its second month, many families in Montana are wondering how to put food on the table.
Thankfully some Montana businesses are stepping up to help out those families in need.

SNAP Benefits Halted for Millions Across America
Starting on November 1st, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, better known as SNAP, stopped sending out food benefits to over 41 million people.
Recently the Trump administration told a Rhode Island judge they would dip into billions of dollars in contingency funds to pay 50% of the normal amount of benefits for the month of November.
While something is better than nothing, that might not be enough to make it through, which is why places like Teriyaki Madness are hoping to give a little bit of relief to those affected by the shutdown.
Local Restaurants Provide Affordable Meal Options
Aaron Wisemann, owner of Teriyaki Madness, told KULR:
"When we saw that SNAP benefits were ending, we thought, you know, we’re in the business of feeding people—and people going hungry really goes against what we believe in."
For anyone who has lost their benefits, stop by Teriyaki Madness and tell them you’ve lost your benefits; then for any kid with you, they'll sell you a junior chicken teriyaki bowl for only $5.
Encouraging Other Businesses To Support Montana Families
With businesses in Helena, Great Falls, and Billings, Aaron is hoping other businesses join in with them to help feed the needy.
