Could Warming Up Your Car Actually Be Illegal In Montana?
Is It Illegal To Warm Up Your Car In Your Driveway In Montana?
You might be thinking to yourself what a silly question, but honestly it is one that not a lot of people think of and it is one that needs to be asked.
Had this question not been asked by one person, the answer to it might surprise you.
Montana winters are not just brutal because of the amount of snow we get, but also because of the bitter cold.
It's considered a pretty mild winter when we don't have an extended streak of below zero weather for days on end.
Because of that cold one of the best things you can look for when buying a vehicle is a remote starter, but could that remote starter actually be enabling you to break the law?

Actually, It Was Illegal To Warm Your Car Up In Montana
I've lived in Montana since 2000 and I didn't realize this was illegal for years until just recently.
Apparently neither did anyone else until Alan Doane asked the same question I did.
He was a member of the Montana House Of Representatives from 2013 until 2021.
According to Alan, it was a police officer who alerted him to the illegality of warming up your car.
So he set out to change it, and in 2017 it became legal for you to warm your car up during our brutal Montana winters.
Now that we know we don't have to worry about getting a ticket, we can turn our attention to worrying about snow fleas.
