Montana Has A Strong Work Ethic Right? Well, Maybe Not.
Do Montana Residents Have A Strong Work Ethic?
Talk to anyone in Montana and they'll tell you, Montana as a whole has a strong work ethic.
We like to think of ourselves as salt of the earth type people that work hard and work until the job is done.
Turns out, we've been lying to ourselves for years.
Well that's according to a new study just released by WalletHub.
While Montana residents aren't the laziest workers in America, that honor goes to New Mexico, we aren't as hard working as we like to think we are.
To come up with their rankings WalletHub compared the 50 states across 10 key indicators.
They looked at Direct Work Factors
- Average Workweek Hours
- Employment Rate
- Share of Households where No Adults Work
- Share of Workers Leaving Vacation Time Unused
- Share of Engaged Workers
They also looked at Indirect Work Factors
- Average Commute Time
- Share of Workers with Multiple Jobs
- Annual Volunteer Hours per Resident
- Average Leisure Time Spent per Day
Where Does Montana Rank For Work Ethic?
When it comes to our work ethic, Montana received at total score of 46.56.
Our Direct Work Factors placed us at #30, and our Indirect Work Factors placed at #6 which overall slotted us at #24 for hardest working states in America.
Wondering who is the hardest working state?
That would be our neighbors in North Dakota.
I think we work harder than our ranking shows, but I also don't think we need to break our backs to get ranked higher in 2024.
As hard as we work in Montana, where we live allows us to play just as hard.
Striking that balance is what makes Montana a great place to live and work.
