Nothing Beats That Montana Welcome

Is there a better feeling than crossing state lines and finally seeing that “Welcome to Montana” sign?

I don’t care if I’ve been gone a day or a year, it always puts a smile on my face knowing I’m back home.

Montana’s Welcome Signs Are Getting Updated

Well, that sign is about to get a little refresh.

For the first time in over 10 years, travelers are going to see new welcome signs all across Montana. Over 11,000 Montanans voted last year, and yesterday Governor Greg Gianforte revealed the winning design.

Of course, not everyone is thrilled about the new sign.

Locals Weigh In: Love It or Hate It?

While some folks aren’t fans of the look, plenty of others took to Facebook to ask, “That’s nice, but what about affordable housing? What about the rising cost of living?”

And honestly, they’re not wrong. Those are real issues Montanans are dealing with every day, and they’re not going away anytime soon.

At the same time, it’s okay to celebrate the little wins. Highlighting something small doesn’t mean the bigger challenges aren’t still being worked on behind the scenes.

That welcome sign won’t fix everything, and it was never meant to.

But if you’ve ever wondered what a truly Montana welcome sign should look like, check out our gallery below. We think locals are going to love some of the ideas we came up with.
