Everything old is new again. It seems that we are all very nostalgic for an era we were never part of.

What do I mean by this? Well I went shopping this weekend for a new hoodie.  I just wanted a new black zip up hoodie.  I didn't want to spend too much cause that's who I am.  Turns out that just a plain Champion brand hoodie is pretty cool.

When did this happen?

I remember when Champion was regarded as cheap or embarrassing to own. Turns out the younger generation saw some online influencers wearing Champion and it became the "in" brand to wear.

I realize I'm a few years late on this trend, as Champion has been seeing a resurgence for a while now.  Just shows how often I shop for new clothes I guess.

It is not just Champion though. Vans and Chuck Taylors are cool again too, though in my opinion they were never uncool.  So many things that a couple decades ago would have gotten a few behind the back laughs are now considered "cool."

I came of age in the 90's, now some 20-30 years later today's high school kids think those things are cool. While this may sound like a "get off my yard" type of rant, it made me realize something.

Kids from my generation did the same thing with the 60s and 70s. We wore the clothes our parents wore when they were teens, we listened to the music they listened to as well.  I'll never forget my mind being blown when I excitedly told my mom about "Bohemian Rhapsody" from the "Wayne's World" soundtrack and she said she listened to it in college.

Heck even vinyl is making a comeback. In 2021 it outsold CDs for the first time in 30 years.

I guess all this really means, is when my kids are teenagers I won't be cool in my Champion hoodie.  I will however be the coolest grandpa that ever lived in about 30 more years.
