Have You Noticed Colored Porch Lights In Montana?

Ever wondered what all those different porch lights mean when driving through your neighborhood in Montana?

Well, each colored light has a different meaning, and in fact, some colors have multiple meanings that we'll decode for you.

Different Colors, Different Groups

These days we're doing more and more to be "aware" of things, letting people know that we understand not everyone has the same struggle and we're here to support our friends and neighbors.

One way people have shown support in recent years is by replacing their regular porch lights with colored porch lights.

You may have noticed some green lights, as this was one of the first and earliest colors to catch on across not just Montana but America as well.

With almost 85,000 veterans living under the Big Sky, I'm sure by now you've seen a green porch light.

Started by Walmart in 2013 and known as the "Greenlight a Veteran" campaign, they asked people to replace their porch lights with a green light.

It was so successful other groups decided to pick their own colors to help convey messages of support, awareness, or celebration, which you will see the meaning behind in the gallery below.👇
