Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream Bars Recalled in Montana
The Food & Drug Administration has announced a recall of Häagan-Dazs ice cream bars due to the possibility that they might contain an undeclared allergen, wheat.
What has been recalled?
The specific product is the 6-pack of Häagen-Dazs Chocolate Dark Chocolate Mini Bars. (The use of the word chocolate twice is not a mistake. That really is the product name.) The batch code is LLA519501 with a Best By date of January 31, 2027. Check out the FDA page for the recall for examples of what to look for.
The recall stresses that only this specific product is being recalled. No other Häagen-Dazs products are being recalled at this time.
The recalled bars are known to have been shipped to and sold in 34 states, including Montana. In Montana, the bars were sold at Kroger-owned stores, like Smith's.
Why is wheat a bad thing?
The recall is because since the wheat wasn't supposed to be in there, the packaging doesn't mention it, putting consumers at risk, at least if they have an allergy to wheat.
Someone without a wheat allergy can eat the ice cream bars and likely not notice anything out of the ordinary about them.
What do I do?
So far, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this.
If you or someone you know have a wheat allergy or sensitivity and might have bought these ice cream bars, check them out and don't eat them, throw them out or return then to the store for a refund.
