In November Montana saw its largest one-month decrease in recreational marijuana sales.  Statistics from the Montana Department of Revenue say statewide sales in November dropped 1.3 million dollars, the biggest one month drop since legal sales began in January.  In the past two months recreational sales have dropped about 1.7 million dollars total.

So, my question is,  did we run out of snacks?  Is that the reason for the drop? Or is the newness of recreational marijuana sales in Montana beginning to rub off?

In November sales for recreational marijuana hit $18,203,534.  In October sales totaled $19,519,042.  That's still a sizeable number compared  to the first month of legal sales in January where $14,141,897 was sold.

There has also been a steady drop in medical marijuana.  Sales here have dropped every month this year and today, medical marijuana sales are half of what they were a year ago.

The largest drops in recreational marijuana sales were in Yellowstone, gallatin, Flathead and Missoula counties who accounted for about $750,000 of the drop.  Cascade County bucked the downward trend.  Sales in Cascade County were actually up nearly $30,000 in November over October.

Here is a number that will grab your attention.  total marijuana sales,  both recreational and medical, for the 11-months this year totals a whopping $277,910,192.

Through the first eleven-months of this year, the state has collected $41,560,926 in taxes on marijuana sales.  What will the money be used for?  Six-million dollars will go to ending addition through recovery.  Then the rest of the money is split up in percentages and will go towards Montana fish-wildlife and parks,  Veterans will be next in line and the rest will  go into the general fund.
