Just as quickly as the trees went up and decorations were hung with care, real trees are nearing the end of their life cycle.

Instead of just chucking that dead tree in the trash, why not recycle it?

Right now in Great Falls, community members can recycle their Christmas trees once the festive season winds down.

Here are the essential details regarding tree recycling:

Recycling Dates and Locations

Between December 26th and January 9th, locals are encouraged to drop off their trees at the following locations:

• Meadowlark Park: Intersection of Fox Farm Road and Park Garden Road
• American Little League parking lot: 1100 38th St. N.

Guidelines for Recycling

Before dropping off trees, residents should ensure they remove all lights, decorations, tree stands, and similar items.

Flocked trees, unfortunately, cannot be recycled at these sites.

Live trees can be placed in the recycling containers provided at the designated locations.

Exclusions and Purpose

Please note that the city will not accept commercial trees.

The recycled trees will either be composted or utilized to enhance fish habitats.
