How to Root for This Montana Musher in the Iditarod

The Iditarod - The Last Great Race is kicking off in Alaska for the annual dog race with the ceremonial start of the race on March 1, 2025.  This year the state of Montana will have one musher making the trip.

Charmayne Morrison of Morrison Racing Kennel is the lone representative this year, hailing from Bozeman, Montana.  Ms. Morrison is making her first appearance at the race and will be considered a rookie amongst the other racers.

Montana Home to Only Lower 48 States Winner of Iditarod

The Iditarod Race gained fame in Montana with musher Doug Swingley, formerly of Great Falls and now living in Lincoln.  Swingley is the only musher from the lower 48 states to win the race.  He is also third for most wins with 4, behind 5-time winner Rick Swenson and 6-time winner Dallas Seavey.

A newcomer to the scene is hoping to make a big splash as a rookie at this year's race and bring back racing glory to the Big Sky State of Montana, just as Swingley did.

How To Watch the Iditarod Race and Cheer on a Montana Musher

Montana musher Charmayne Morrison is set to make her debut at this year's race, beginning in Anchorage with a ceremonial start, then a secondary restart in Fairbanks.

Morrison founded her kennels in 2015 and their website states:

Morrison Racing Kennel is home to about 30 Alaskan Husky sled dogs, and its primary focus is developing a mid and long-distance racing team with the goal of racing the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
