Stamp Out Hunger Returns with the Great Falls Food Bank
This is probably a horrible reflection on myself, but there are many things in my life that I take for granted that I don't realize. For instance, when hungry, my cabinets, freezer and refrigerator are stocked with food.
For many in Great Falls, that isn't the case. And it only takes a quick visit with Shaun Tatarka at the Great Falls Community Food Bank (GFCFB) to bring me back to reality, and to start digging in those cupboards for extra food for an annual campaign coming this weekend.

To help refill the shelves, the annual Stamp Out Hunger with the National Association of Letter Carriers will be on May 9, 2026. This year will mark the 34th Anniversary of the event, with nearly 2 billion pounds of food raised over the years across the country.
Nearly One in Nine in Cascade County Have Food Insecurity Today
The GFCFB states that there are nearly 10,000 residents of the county that suffer from food insecurity each day. With a population of around 85,000 total residents, that accounts for nearly 1 in 9 people not knowing where the next meal comes from.
To donate food for the annual Stamp Out Hunger on Saturday, May 9, have your non-perishable food items next to your mailbox by 8:30am. Letter carriers and volunteers will be by to pick them up through the day. The Food Bank is still looking for volunteer drivers and runners. To help, contact the GFCFB through social media here. Or you can call the office and speak with the operator for more information.
