New To Montana? Here’s 6 Things You Shouldn’t Do
If you're new to Montana, chances are you might have mixed reviews when it comes to the kindness of strangers.
You see, for many Montanans, the idea of folks moving here is a bit of a sore subject. While it might feel like a bit of a personal attack, keep in mind for those who were born and raised here, many feel that their way of life is under attack. As Montana grows, it seems that some of the "old ways" are being replaced and that isn't something that locals are keen on.
However, there are some things that you can do to help avoid some of the awkwardness of it all.
First, let us establish that Montana is a diverse place, especially in the bigger towns.
Places like Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, and Missoula have a decent mix of folks from all different walks of life. However, the farther away you get from the larger population, the more Montana the state becomes.
Montana has a ton of small towns where life is a little slower and a bit more "old school". There are several places here in The Treasure State where people know each other by their first name, go to church together, work together, and help each other. It's one of the things that makes Montana such a special place and it's easy to understand why some folks might not like the idea of those ways of life being threatened.
So if you're new to the state, or are thinking about moving here, we have some friendly suggestions of things that you shouldn't do once you call Montana home.
