Studies on quite literally anything exists on the internet. And they’re interesting because they give insight into social structures, fashion choices, health, and all things in between. This recent study was conducted in Montana and the findings are perfect.  This particular fashion study was done by Boohoo.

The Decades of Fashion in America's History

In the 50’s Stepford Housewife fashion was in. Dresses, poodle skirts, and highwater pants for men for huge with sweater vests.

In the 60’s the hippies started to emerge after we went to war with Vietnam. The things humans wore during these turbulent times were the first due to radical beliefs and “freeing the mind.” LSD, cannabis, among many other substances were taking wave, and so was the fashion. I’m talking bell bottoms and bell sleeves, big sunglasses, and knee high platforms.

In the 70’s, humans started to wear little to no clothing. Showing more and more “naught bits.” Those dang hippies just wanted to be naked and free. Fringe tops were big at that time, with a middle part in the hair and flipped out Farah Faucet bangs.  Even the men in the 70's wore a heeled or platform boots.

Now the 80’s

Montana is stuck in the past. I’d argue it’s living in the 1990’s but hey that’s just me.  It’s been a running joke for a long time and even the fashion is frozen in the past. And according to this study done by Boohoo. They analyzed fashion related terms for the 1950s-2000s to find out the “most in-demand decade of fashion in each state.”

Montanans’ choice of fashion in 2023 is still 80’s fashion.

The “Canadian Tuxedo” is still huge in the treasure state, as Demin isn’t going out of style any time soon. Long socks scrunched down to the ankle with chunky tennis shoes or those very popular Converse. Bright colors are back and here to stay.  Big hair with perms are still huge in Montana, not to mention the comeback of mullets. Bold makeup looks still rain king and queen.

I'm here for it!  Big Hair = Lots of Secrets. 😉

The '80s Most Outrageous Rock Fashions

In the same way that ducktails defined the '50s and bell bottoms became shorthand for the '70s, neon-lit sartorial choices can be firmly placed in the Reagan years.
