Sorry, But It Is Illegal To Actually Own This Wild Animal In Montana
I have always had the dream of owning a tiny cow or a miniature horse. Now those dreams were crushed when I realized apartments typically don't want to see that as an answer to, "Do you have any pets". That and the fact that it's not the most realistic idea I have had.
This got me thinking; is there an animal that is illegal to have as a pet even if I really really wanted it? You know, cross off any pets that are illegal so I don't get my hopes up. The answer is yes!
If you live in Montana and have your heart set on owning a fun-loving kangaroo, I hate to break it to you and crush your dreams, but that is not a possibility. Owning a kangaroo in Montana is actually illegal. It's illegal in every state with the exception of 13 states; and in 10 of those states, you will still need a permit.
In Wisconsin, West Virginia, and South Carolina, you can go and pick up a kangaroo at any shop they are available, and bring that giant furry long-jump champion home with you.
You would think that with all the open land here in Montana, a kangaroo would actually enjoy their freedom just as we do every day.
Who knows, maybe laws will change; but for now, your dreams of owning a kangaroo in the Big Sky State will have to be put on hold.
